Raahen Taitopaja

Raahen Taitopaja is a versatile handicraft and experience provider operating in an old foundry founded in 1955 by the Tuomaala brothers. The craft traditions are now continued in the third generation. Visitors can explore the foundry and himmeli traditions, among other things, on site. Bronze castings are made using traditional sand-casting techniques. The himmeli exhibition displays over 150 different himmelis.

Himmelis

The workshop displays over 150 different himmelis. The himmelis are made using materials such as rye, sand ryegrass, and glass tubes.

Bronze Casting

Bronze casting is traditionally done by casting into sand. During the demonstration, you’ll get to see the entire casting process.

Courses and Demonstrations

We organize courses for small groups upon request, such as himmeli, glass, and bronze casting courses and workshops. We also offer various live demonstrations of different traditional handicrafts and guided tours of the craft workshop.
